Autumn Walk At Nower Wood Nature Reserve
Event details
About the event
Join us on Friday 25th October at 1.00pm - 3.00pm for a guided walk around our woodland nature reserve. You will have a chance to learn about the local history of the site as well as looking out for seasonal wildlife such as autumnal colours and fabulous fungi.
The walk will be on footpaths with some steep hills.
Nower Wood is a semi-ancient oak woodland which may date back as far as the Domesday Book. The reserve is also a Site of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCI).
The reserve contains Hazel coppice, a small area of chalk grassland, a small heathland glade, butterfly ride and three man-made ponds.
A number of bird species can be found on site, including Sparrowhawk, Woodcock, woodpecker and Wood Warbler. There is also an assortment of tits as well as Treecreepers and Nuthatches. Adders and Grass Snakes are occasionally seen, whilst Roe Deer, Badgers and Foxes have all been regularly recorded.
Come and spend some time immersed in nature and celebrate the change of season with us.
