About the reserve

Ownership of Brentmoor Heath is split between the MOD, Surrey County Council and Surrey Heath Borough Council and managed by the Trust.

The site occupies the north eastern corner of an extensive block of lowland heath that includes Colony Bog, Pirbright and Bisley Ranges, and the training areas of West End Common.

The reserve is made up of wet and dry heath habitats, with areas of woodland, acid grassland and ponds.

The dry heath is dominated by ling, whilst the wet areas support the insectivorous sundews, cotton-grass, white beak sedge and cross-leaved heather.

The site is a haven for reptiles like grass snakes, adders, common lizards and slow worms. Many invertebrates can be found, as well as the Dartford warbler.

Please note that access to this site is subject to the terms and conditions of the Military Byelaws, which are displayed at all major access points.
