About the event

There is nothing more iconic than a hedgehog. Discover why they are the nation’s favourite mammal and take a closer look into the world of this native species. Join us for an interesting morning discussing the biology of hedgehogs and their current threats. You will leave knowing how to help this charismatic species at home and feel empowered to share this knowledge with everyone else!

Tutor Details: Lizzie Cheater

Lizzie worked with Surrey Wildlife Trust between 2018 and 2023 as an Education and Engagement Officer, and the go-to hedgehog person. She also volunteers with her local wildlife rescue to educate people about hedgehogs and how to help. Lizzie set up a BeeWalk, created by the Bumblebee Conservation trust, with volunteers to survey the bumblebee species found at Nower Wood.

She is now the Education Office and Volunteer Coordinator at Drusillas Park, teaching children all about wildlife. She is always enthusiastic to share what she has learned with others, whether children or adults, and looks forward to introducing people to the wonderful world of hedgehogs.
