Course types
Our courses are primarily held at Nower Wood Education Centre near Leatherhead and follow five main themes:
Habitats & species
Discover more about local ecology and conservation through a huge variety of dynamic wildlife conservation courses. We provide opportunities for you to meet wildlife up close, uncover the mystery of our ancient woodland and understand why creatures act in certain ways.
Arts, crafts & photography
We embrace the beauty of our reserves when helping beginners and improvers to develop creative skills and learn new artistic techniques. By using established local artists and craft tutors we can ensure a high quality experience is achieved.
Personal & professional development
We offer opportunities for professionals and volunteers to improve their nature learning and understanding of working and teaching outdoors. Enhance your employability by gaining new skills and achieving certified qualifications.
Practical skills
Learn practical countryside management skills that can be used in the workplace, when volunteering or at home. You will gain conservation information in a classroom environment before implementing these new skills outdoors.
Health & wellbeing
Immersing oneself in nature has proven healing properties for both the body and mind. We therefore offer courses that utilize our nature reserves when teaching various health improving programmes.
Forest School & Teacher Training
Our training courses are nationally recognised qualifications accredited by the Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM), and the Institute for Outdoor Learning. We also hold a Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge.

I thought the course was excellent. The tutor was very knowledgeable, explaining everything clearly and giving good practical support.
